Summer in Dénia
In July the Bous a la Mar bring crowds down to the port, and from the last day of July to 16 August the Moros i Cristians fill the centre, with the big parade along Marqués de Campo. Keys go missing in crowds, and some streets are slow to reach: be ready for the last stretch to be on foot.
Arriving late
Boats from Ibiza, Formentera and Palma come into Dénia port, and more than 5,000 properties in the town are registered as holiday lets. A late arrival at a key box that will not open, or a flat whose key is somewhere else, is one of the commonest night calls.
Reachable at any hour is not the same as at your door in ten minutes. Nobody here will promise a time the roads cannot keep: you get an honest estimate for your address and the hour you ring.

Asked on the phone at night
The key has snapped off in the lock. Should I try to pull the stub out?
Only if it sticks out far enough to grip cleanly with pliers. Pushing at it with a knife or a hairpin usually drives it deeper and turns a quick extraction into a new cylinder. Leave it, and say on the phone how much of it is showing.
I lost my keys somewhere in town. Is opening the door enough?
It gets you in tonight. Whether the lock should be changed as well depends on what else was with the keys: if anything showed your address, a new cylinder is the sensible next step, and it can be fitted in the same visit or booked for another day.
Can you open the door tonight and change the lock later?
Yes. Opening is the urgent part. If the lock survives the opening, it keeps working and a change can be booked for a time that suits you. If it does not survive, a new cylinder goes in before the door is left.
Does it cost more at night or on a Sunday?
It can, because the hour is part of the job. No prices are published here; the price is explained before any work starts, and nothing is done without your agreement.
